Woman arrested on theft charges

A Summerside woman has been arrested on four charges of theft.

On Sept. 7 around 1:30 p.m., Summerside police received a call reporting a woman had stolen merchandise and fled the area when approach by staff of the Atlantic Superstore on Granville Street.

A store employee followed the suspect and saw her discard several other items, which turned out to be stolen property from three other Granville Street area stores.

Police attended the area and were able to identify the woman, with the help of the store’s loss prevention officer.

The suspect was not immediately located, but was arrested by police on Sunday, Sept. 9 around 1:30 a.m. when a patrol officer saw her on Second Street.

She will appear in court today to answer to the four charges of theft under $5,000.

Man arrested for attempted theft of vehicle

A 23-year-old man has been arrested after trying to steal a vehicle.

On Sunday, around 2:30 a.m., police were called to an Arcona Street home where the resident reported someone was in his vehicle and had moved it to out the roadway. Police attended the scene and found Donovan MacCaull in the vehicle. He was arrested for attempted theft of a motor vehicle along with mischief and theft under $5,000.

He will appear in court at a later date.

Vehicle stolen from Manson Court

Summerside Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a Manson Court residence, which is believed to have occurred overnight on Sept. 8.

The vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Colbalt, grey in colour, was later located behind Holland College on Water Street.

Anyone with information on this matter is asked to call Summerside Police Service at 902-432-1201.

Impaired driver arrested Sunday afternoon

A 53-year-old Summerside man has been arrested for impaired driving.

Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Summerside police received a report of an impaired driver leaving the area of the Water Street Liquor store.

The caller provided a description of the vehicle and the man. Police were able to locate the vehicle on Granville Street.

The man was arrested at the scene and later provided breath samples two and a half time the legal limit.

He will appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.
