There will be a vigil in Charlottetown on Tuesday for the victims of the Aug. 4 explosion in Beirut, Lebanon.
The Canadian Lebanese Association of P.E.I. is hosting the event which will begin at 8 p.m. at the cultural pavilion at Victoria Park.
Fouad Haddad, a member of the association, said guests at the vigil will include the Very Rev. Father Stephen Allen, the pastor at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in Charlottetown as well as Mayor Philip Brown.
“We’re holding this vigil for the people who are injured or who lost their lives,’’ Haddad said.
The association also welcomes donations to the Lebanese Emergency Relief Fund of P.E.I. gofundme page or through the Canadian Lebanese Association of P.E.I.’s Facebook page.
So far, the local association has raised more than $10,000 and all money raised is being donated to Canadian Red Cross efforts in Lebanon.
The massive explosion at Beirut’s commercial port has killed more than 160 people.
