In part 2 of The Guardian's annual year-end interview with Wade MacLauchlan, chief political reporter Teresa Wright asks the P.E.I. premier about the results of November's byelection in District 11, Charlottetown-Parkdale, which saw the Green party pull out an emphatic victory for the seat formerly held by Liberal stalwart Doug Currie.
To that end, MacLauchlan also discusses accusations that his Liberal party tried to buy votes during the campaign, and whether the Green win is a sign that the landscape of Prince Edward Island politics is shifting.
The premier also talk about recent polling numbers that show historic lows for the Liberals, and whether he'll call an election earlier than the fixed October 2019 date.
