The search for a P.E.I. fisherman who fell overboard early Tuesday morning has ended.
The Halifax Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre (JRCC) issued a statement around 8 p.m. stating the search ended and that the case would be handed over to P.E.I. RCMP as a missing persons case.
“Thoughts are with the member’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time,” read the JRCC statement.
Fisherman Jordan Hicken fell into the water near Naufrage before 5:30 a.m. A large number of people took part in the search and rescue effort, which involved about 60 vessels and three aircrafts.
Fire departments from Souris and St. Peters as well as the Coast Guard joined the large effort.
Ground search parties also looked along the shore in case Hicken had been able to swim to safety.
