CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A female pedestrian was taken to hospital Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle at a crosswalk in Charlottetown.
Const. Ron Kennedy, a reconstructionist with Charlottetown Police Services, says the woman was bleeding from her head after falling to the pavement.
He says the 67-year-old woman was walking across the crosswalk at the intersection of Euston Street and Weymouth Street when she was struck by a motorist turning left.
Kennedy says the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening, and she was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance and later released.
A 20-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Kennedy urges pedestrians and motorists to use caution, particularly at crosswalks.
He advises pedestrians to make eye contact with a motorist before walking in front of the person’s vehicle.
