CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Twelve Charlottetown elementary school children will have their artwork featured in a local calendar.

Last month, the city partnered with the Town of Stratford to expand the Water School Program.

The town has provided water conservation education to Grade 5 students in Stratford and the surrounding area since 2011.

This year, Charlottetown has joined forces to expand the program and extend to Grade 5 students in the capital, Stratford and surrounding areas.

Student’s whose artwork was selected for the calendar include:

  • Cameron Dickinson, West Royalty Elementary School
  • Angela Warwick, Parkdale Elementary School
  • Alyson Scott, West Royalty Elementary School
  • Ava Dow, West Kent Elementary School
  • Timea Acatincai, West Kent Elementary School
  • Anna Garrity, West Kent Elementary School
  • Sophia Erdogan, West Royalty Elementary School
  • Londyn Clarke, Parkdale Elementary School
  • Chloe Drake, Parkdale Elementary School
  • Brooklyn MacLeod, Parkdale Elementary School
  • Emmalea Walsh, West Royalty Elementary School

The program was part of the school curriculum and took place over four days with four elementary schools participating for a total of 204 students.

Part of the class involved an art contest where students were asked to create a drawing that represented something they learned from the program.

From the entries, 12 winning pieces of art were selected and will be displayed in a school calendar with one for each month.

There were also eight honorable mentions that will become a collage within the calendar.
