CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Four tall Victorian-styled lamp posts outside Beaconsfield Historic House in Charlottetown will likely need to be replaced after they were intentionally damaged.

Site manager Nick Longaphy says one light fixture was completely smashed while four poles were badly banged up.

“Pretty sure all four will need to be replaced,’’ said Longaphy.

Fortunately, Beaconsfield is insured through the province for property damage.

However, the damage delivered a sour start to decorating plans Monday when Longaphy arrived at the site to see shattered glass littering the ground.

Still, the 1877 Victorian-era house will be well decked out for Christmas tours running Dec. 10 to Dec. 23 (call 902-368-6603 to book a tour).
