SUMMERSIDE – Susan Rodgers has taken to social media asking Islanders, friends, fans and movie lovers to help fund her upcoming feature film.

Rodgers, a local author from Summerside, has been making videos of herself to explain her journey of the process of making her film come to life.

The funding being raised for her movie has been slower than wanted and has been a lot of hard work and research.

The date to start filming has been pushed back, but Rodgers and the cast are still holding on to hope.

“Things have been hard, but we are still forging forward.”

As the deadline to reach the minimum funding goal approaches, Rodgers believes she can look at it one of two ways.

The first, being April 30 is coming soon and it’s stressful and second, she has a whole month to get the money.

“I’m looking at it as the glass half full.”

Proving herself, as a filmmaker has been hard because juggling the financial situation has never come naturally.

“It takes a lot of courage to step out of your comfort zone. It has been interesting.”

Rodgers started to post videos on her Facebook called “The Cost of a Dream” after her son challenged her to share her story.

She is continuing to post videos completing her sixth video and sharing it online to her friends and family.
