Summerside woman gets jail time for drug trafficking

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Jenifer Ashley MacArthur, 32, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to a number of criminal charges.

The charges include: two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine and hydromorphone), one count of stealing mail of a value not exceeding $5,000, one count of impaired driving, one count of breaching a court undertaking and three counts of failing to attend court at required by a judge,

The charges relate to incidents between from Aug. 28, 2018 and March 2019 in Summerside.

MacArthur was sentenced to serve 398 days in jail and received credit for the equivalent of 134 days she has already spent in custody since her arrest. She must also serve 24 months of probation, is prohibited from owning weapons for 10 years, must submit a DNA sample to the national criminal database and must forfeit a number of items seized during her arrest.
