SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Summerside police say they arrested a man they allege passed counterfeit $100 bills over the weekend.

That arrest came after two complaints from July 17, including one in which the police said a white male with dark hair, a beard and walking with a limp passed a $100 bill to a food vendor in the city.

The police reported the bill had the serial number LB45440078L.

In the second incident, the police said a different suspect passed a $100 bill with the same serial number.

The police said that suspect was caught on surveillance video and arrested.

He is facing a charge of uttering counterfeit currency and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The police are asking businesses and the public to pay special attention to any $100 bills they receive and to call police regarding any suspicious currency.
