Summerside man gets more than a year in jail for assault, other charges

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Cole Edward Hearn, 21, of Summerside, has been sentenced to more than a year in jail after pleading guilty to a number of charges, including assault causing bodily harm.

In addition to the assault charge, Hearn pleaded guilty to breaching his probation, possession of stolen property of a value exceeding $5,000, two counts of theft of merchandise of a value not exceeding $5,000, fraudulently obtaining transportation and prowling at night.

Hearn was sentenced to serve 477 days in jail but received credit for the equivalent of 84 days he has already been in custody since his arrest.

He also serves 36 months of probation and pay $800 in victim surcharges.
