SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 22-year-old Summerside man who was arrested Wednesday after a warrant was issued faces more charges.

On Dec. 4 at about 3:20 p.m., Summerside police located Edward Hearn at a residence on Spruce Drive.

Hearn was arrested inside the residence and was held in jail overnight.

He appeared before the courts Dec.5 and was remanded until his next appearance on Dec. 19.

As a result of continued investigations into Hearn’s recent activities, he is facing several more charges.

On Nov. 9 just after 2 p.m., an officer on patrol spotted Hearn driving a vehicle on Central Street in Summerside.

The officer knew Hearn did not have a license and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle on Route 2 at the North Drive intersection.

Hearn fled at a high rate of speed and was passing vehicles in a dangerous manner in his efforts to evade police.

Due to Hearn’s driving, police immediately terminated pursuit of the vehicle.

It was later determined the vehicle Hearn was driving was stolen.

As a result of this incident, Hearn has been charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and possession of stolen property.

After Hearn’s arrest on Dec. 4, another victim came forward and reported to police that he had been assaulted by the accused earlier that day at around noon.

The incident occurred at the same Spruce Drive residence where Hearn was arrested.

The victim reported going to the residence, at which time Hearn assaulted him with a baseball bat.

The victim received what are believed to be minor injuries from the attack.

As a result of that incident, Hearn was charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
