Summerside man arrested after stealing from P.E.I. church during service

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 23-year-old Summerside man stole two televisions from a local church on Sunday.

The service was in progress when the man entered the building on Central Street the morning of Aug. 4.

Church staff noticed the missing items Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, and called Summerside Police Services.

The church's video surveillance showed the theft and police were able to identify the suspect from the footage.

The man was arrested Tuesday afternoon near Heather Moyse Drive and has been held in custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday to answer to a charge of theft under $5,000.
