The group, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Ragusa, had applied to rezone 403 Granville Street from high density residential to institutional. The purpose of the rezoning is to allow, but not be limited to, a place of worship (a convent.) The nuns also plan to eventually operate a daycare centre there.

The same group was denied a similar application to rezone a residential property on South Drive in December following opposition from their perspective neighbours.

City council sided with residents and denied the rezoning application.

The second application for the Granville Street property met no such opposition and council unanimously approved the motion during its February meeting.
