A 26-year-old Stratford man has been charged with a number of driving offences after police found him lying in the road unresponsive.
While on routine patrol on Queen Street during the early morning hours of May 22, police came upon the man and began to administer first aid and called Island EMS.
Shortly after, the man regained consciousness, became combative with police and fled on foot to a nearby vehicle and fled the area.
Attempts to pull the vehicle over failed.
A short time later, the vehicle was intercepted by police and the man then fled into a nearby building.
Police entered the building where they arrested him.
He has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drugs, driving while prohibited, dangerous driving and flight from police.
The accused has been released from custody with conditions and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
