Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Prince County for late Wednesday, with freezing rain possible Thursday morning.

Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected in the area.

The weather agency says a low-pressure system will approach from the southwest late in the day Wednesday, tracking across Prince Edward Island overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning.

Snow ahead of the system is expected to develop Wednesday evening and become mixed with or change to freezing rain early Thursday morning.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations, so be prepared to adjust driving with changing road conditions.

Meanwhile, special weather statements are continued for Kings and Queens counties due to these weather conditions, but no warnings have been put in place yet.

Snowfall amounts of near 10 cm are currently expected for these two counties, with the possibility of reaching 15 cm.
