Second suspect charged in Charlottetown tattoo shop assault

Police have arrested and charged a second suspect in a Dec. 23 disturbance that resulted in a tattoo parlour owner having part of his leg amputated.
The Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit arrested a 20-year-old Charlottetown man on Friday and charged him with assault with a weapon.
The accused was released from custody on conditions and will appear in court on Jan. 31.
Police said the Dec. 23 disturbance saw Extreme Ink owner Donald (Artie) Gautreau injured after getting into an heated exchange outside of his tattoo shop with the passenger of a vehicle. After the passenger exited the vehicle, the driver slammed the vehicle into Gautreau, who was later airlifted to a Halifax hospital and had part of his leg amputated.
Police previously charged the driver with aggravated assault with a weapon. He is set to appear in court on Jan. 31.
Police said the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
