Parks Canada says the access road to Robinsons Island and its trail system are now closed until further notice.
Using the trails and technical mountain biking features when ground conditions are wet may damage the surface, resulting in safety issues for users as the terrain destabilizes and tree roots become exposed.
If used in wet conditions, mountain biking features can also be destroyed.
Parks Canada says it will continue to monitor the trail and will re-open the area once conditions improve.
During this time, visitors can explore other trails available in the park, including the Bubbling Springs and Farmlands Trails in Stanhope, or to walk along the beach from any of the access points.
The agency is also reminding people that the domestic animal ban is in effect for P.E.I. National Park beaches, but dogs on a leash are welcome on trails and in picnic areas.
