CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. government has announced a $750,000 strategic fund to help the agriculture industry during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Agriculture Minister Bloyce Thompson made the announcement during an afternoon news conference providing an update on the province’s response to the coronavirus.

Thompson said there will also be job matching services to pair workers with employers made available.

During the news conference, Transportation Minister Steven Myers said 21 people in 15 vehicles were asked to turn around at the Confederation Bridge since travel restrictions were implemented.

He also said a decision was made to delay the start of the recreational fishing season until June 1.
