CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — More money is coming for P.E.I.’s agriculture industry as the government expands efforts to deal with the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) on the province.
During a news conference this afternoon, Agriculture Minister Bloyce Thompson said the government is making changes to several programs related to agriculture to help during the coronavirus pandemic.
Thompson said the government is also providing $5.6 million in additional support over two years
A further $4.7 million will be provided to help mitigate a potato surplus because of the coronavirus
That money is to help ensure no product lost and put farmers in good position for 2020 growing season, Thompson said.
