Red Cross assisting O'Leary fire victim

The cause of a fire that destroyed a Main Street residence in O'Leary on Sunday is still undetermined. The O’Leary, West Point, and Alberton fire departments spent close to six hours fighting the fire which was reported around 6 a.m. A woman who lived in the house credits her dog with alerting her to the fire. She escaped in her nightclothes, taking her dog with her.
Canadian Red Cross volunteers have come to the woman’s aid, arranging emergency lodging as well as with purchase of food, winter clothing, and other basics.

O'LEARY, P.E.I. — The cause of a fire that destroyed a Main Street residence in O'Leary on Sunday is still undetermined.

The O’Leary, West Point and Alberton fire departments spent close to six hours fighting the Jan. 19 fire, which was reported around 6 a.m.

A woman who lived in the house credits her dog with alerting her to the fire. She escaped in her nightclothes, taking her dog with her.

Canadian Red Cross volunteers have come to the woman’s aid, arranging emergency lodging, purchase of food, winter clothing and other basic necessities.
