GEORGETOWN, P.E.I. — Three people are dead and another person is in hospital after a single-vehicle accident on Route 3 near Georgetown Royalty early Sunday.
Around 2:30 a.m. emergency services received a call from a passenger in the car that had left the road.
The vehicle was found in an embankment of a ditch, said RCMP.
The driver, a 36-year-old man, and two passengers, a 30-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, all died at the scene.
Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Everyone in the vehicle was from Kings County.
Route 3 was closed between Bovyer Road and Morrison Beach Road until around 9:30 a.m. Sunday while emergency crews managed the scene.
Families of the deceased have been notified.
The incident is under investigation. RCMP would like to speak to the driver of a white Ford truck who may have witnessed the collision.
