Summerside man pleads guilty

SUMMERSIDE– Jason Allan Fraser, 45, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to theft of items valued less $5,000 from Christmas Discounters in Summerside, and one count of breaching probation order.

The theft charge is from May 2018, while the breach is from dates between 2017 and 2018.

Fraser was sentenced to serve 120 days in jail, 18 months of probation and must pay $200 in victim surcharge.

Wellington man sentenced

SUMMERSIDE – Edward James Strongman, 27, of Wellington, has pleaded guilty to one count of assault, two counts of uttering a threat, one count of carrying a weapon dangerous to the public; a knife. 

The charges are from various dates in August 2018 and took place in Summerside.

Strongman was sentenced to serve 33 days in jail, but received credit for 19 days he’s already served since his arrest. He also received permission to serve his jail time intermittently. He must also serve 24 months of probation and pay $400 in victim surcharges. He is also prohibited from owning firearms for three years.

Union man pleads guilty

SUMMERSIDE – Robert Alexander James Hewlett, 29, of Union has pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching his probation and one count of breaching a court undertaking.

The charges are from July 3 and 30 in Summerside.

Hewlett was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail, but received credit for 18 days he’s served since his arrest.

Gallant guilty of theft

SUMMERSIDE – Cinda Lynn Gallant, 60, of Summerside has been found guilty of stealing items valued at less than $5,000 from Atlantic Superstore.

The charge is from Feb. 12, in Summerside.

Gallant was sentenced to serve 14 days in jail, which she received permission to do intermittently. She must also serve 12 months of probation and pay a $100 victim surcharge.

North Carleton man sentenced

SUMMERSIDE – Curtis Pryor Welch, 73, of North Carleton, has pleaded guilty to one count of driving while disqualified.

The charge is from May 8 in Summerside.

Welch was fined 1,000 and must pay a victim surcharge of $300. He is also prohibited from driving for an additional 12 months.

Bridges sentenced

SUMMERSIDE – Kevin Gregory Bridges, 34, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to one count of mischief, for damaging property that did not belong to him.

The charge is from June 29 in Summerside.

Bridges received a suspended sentence, must serve 18 months of probation and pay a $100 victim surcharge.

Murphy gets conditional discharge

SUMMERSIDE – Christopher Lloyd Murphy, of Summerside has pleaded guilty to one count of mischief by damaging property.

The charge is from July 1 in Summerside.

Murphy received a conditional discharge, must serve 12 months of probation and must pay $100 in victim surcharges.

Wilson guilty of fraud

SUMMERSIDE – Sharon Lynn Wilson, 25, of Charlottetown, has pleaded guilty to one count of defrauding Atlantic Superstore of less than $5,000 and failing to appear in court as required.

The charges are from May 26 and July 26 in Summerside.

Wilson received a suspended sentence and must serve 12 months of probation and must pay $200 in victim surcharges. 

Coughlin guilty of theft

SUMMERSIDE – Brittany Karen Coughlin, 22, of Borden-Carleton has been found guilty of theft of less than $5,000 from Walmart.

The charge is dated from being between February and April in Summerside.

Coughlin was sentenced to serve 30 days in conditional custody, as well as 12 months of probation and must pay a $100 victim surcharge.
