A 43-year-old woman who has been charged with attempted murder and administering a noxious substance made a brief appearance in Charlottetown provincial court on Monday.

The matter was adjourned by Judge Nancy Orr to Friday, when the accused is expected to elect whether the matter will be heard in provincial court or supreme court.

A publication ban was put in place preventing the release of information that could identify the victim. The court also ordered the accused to have no contact with two individuals.

According to the Queens District RCMP, at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, officers responded to a 911 call in the community of Scotchfort. Officers were assisted by the RCMP major crime and forensic investigation units.

The accused is currently being remanded in custody.
