Weather

A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“The next few days will be quiet but cold as a slow-moving area of high pressure drops down from the north. Temperatures will start to moderate on Friday ahead of a developing storm. Right now, the system is over northern Mexico so as you can imagine, the exact track is still somewhat up in the air. My initial thoughts are that the system will intensify over the Gulf of Mexico before crossing the Florida Panhandle and then track up along the eastern seaboard. The centre of the low could come very close to Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coast and that would keep us on the colder therefore snowy side of the storm. Snowfall could be in the 15 to 20 cm range. There will also be lots of wind – first from the east gusting to 90 km/h and eventually out of the northwest with gusts to 80 km/h. Stay tuned, the storm is still 84 hours away.”
