A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“A raw north wind wrapping around a stalled low over the Labrador Sea continues to trigger onshore snow and patchy freezing drizzle. Snowfall totals will range from just a dusting of three to five centimetres along north-facing coastlines. One top of producing localized snow and serving up wind chill, the stalled system has been deflecting approaching weather makers to our south and east. As the blocking pattern weakens, the active weather track will change, allowing systems to come a little closer to the coast. A trough from an offshore low will bring 5 cm of snow on Saturday. The next significant system is expected to approach from the southwest with a messy mix of weather by Tuesday.”
