Weather
It will be mostly sunny across the province Wednesday with a high of -7 C. West winds will gust to 30 km/h and with the wind chill, it will feel like between -12 and -14 C.
A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:
“Cold then white … winter is back! The cold air is compliments of a sprawling area of high pressure that’s pulling very dry air across the region. Where the west wind has been blowing onshore, that has resulted in localized snow squalls. The fair-weather system is being held back by a well-anchored, long-wave trough that stretches off our coastline to just east of the Avalon. A series of developing snowmakers will travel up the trough, for the most part tracking offshore and bringing a mix of sun and cloud to the region. On Sunday, a line of snow will rotate around a stalled system east of Newfoundland. Snowfall totals should range from 3 to 6 centimetres; the west wind will gust to 60 km/h, causing blowing snow and reduced visibility.”
