A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“Imagine… 12 degrees cooler and we’d be shovelling out from under 20 to 40 centimetres of snow; it wasn’t meant to be, this time. The deep area of low pressure remains west of the province, keeping us on the milder side of things. The rain is expected to wrap up late this afternoon. The wind will diminish but remaining out of the south for the rest of the week; that will keep temperatures above seasonal values. A fast-moving system will bring a few night showers Friday and some clearing with cooler temperatures for the weekend. The next weather system will have a greater impact across the Island. Right now, it looks like it will track just off Nova Scotia’s eastern shore; cold air feeding down behind the system could whiten things up early next week.”
