A word from the SaltWire Network weather desk:
SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day says Islanders can put down their shovels.
A large, slow-moving high-pressure system sitting over northern Minnesota will be the dominant weather feature this week.
The leading edge of the high comes with a north wind and below normal temperatures.
The backside is fairly mild and most of us will experience near or above freezing temperatures by the end of the week.
The weekend will be fair with some sun on Saturday and more cloud cover on Sunday.
Monday is not looking quite as good, unless you’re a fan of snow.
Day says she’s watching a developing system that is expected to bring snow to the province overnight Sunday and Monday.
It’s early, but Day said she would put the snow totals between 15 and 20 centimetres. Stay tuned.
