A word from the SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“It’s all about location. We’re caught up in a flow of mild air created by the wind patterns around a low-pressure system tracking north of the province and the Bermuda High. By Wednesday afternoon, the wind will come around to the northeast; on Thursday, a strengthening raw east wind will accompany a developing storm system. The rain/snow line will wobble across the province. Snowfall totals should be in the five to 10-centimetre range, with some mixing to rain likely. We’ll remain on the warmer side of the stalling weather system until the later part of the weekend. Old air will rush down behind it on Sunday when the system finally pulls away. We could receive another five to 10 cm of snow in the wake of the low.”
