A word from SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day:

“A powerful spring storm is headed for our region. The centre of the rapidly intensifying system is expected to be directly over the province Friday afternoon. The leading edge of the weather ahead of the system will be white, but eastern regions of the Island will slip to the milder side, with a changeover to rain. Prince County will be on the cooler side with as much as 10 to 15 centimetres of snow before the low moves out. The wind will be significant on Friday morning – blowing from the south with gusts to 80 km/h at the coasts. Thanks to the lovely Full Pink Moon earlier this week, we are in a period of high astronomical tides, so watch for elevated water levels, large waves and pounding surf. Conditions will improve quickly in the wake of the low. Easter Sunday should be lovely with sunshine and seasonal temperatures. The next weather-maker will roll in late Monday with wind, more rain and double-digit highs temperatures.
