Weather – Rain, snow and cooler temperatures in the forecast

The SaltWire Network weather desk indicates that temperatures today will fall as winds swing around to the north and northwest, bringing much colder air and flurries into the Maritimes.

There is the possibility of some accumulation through parts of the Annapolis Valley, P.E.I. and Cape Breton.

As the system moves out, winds return to the west and temperatures remain very cool.

By Sunday, winds swing to the southwest in advance of the next approaching low.

Periods of rain mixed with snow will end this morning, then become cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries. Snow will begin late this afternoon.

Rainfall amounting to two to four millimetres is expected with winds gusting to 50 kilometres an hour. The temperature will remain steady near 1 C. The UV index is 1, or low.

For tonight, periods of snow ending near midnight then cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries amounting to two to four centimetres with winds gusting to 50 km/h. Tonight’s expected low is -2 C, but with the wind chill it will feel like -9 C overnight.
