Weather
A word from the SaltWire Network weather desk:
SaltWire Network chief meteorologist Cindy Day says Friday's temperature will be just below freezing at around -2 C with a mix of sun and cloud and a light west wind.
For the weekend, Day says a cluster of fair weather systems tracking across the region will serve up pleasant January weather for a few days.
Temperatures have warmed to above seasonal values but will cool a little heading into the weekend.
The weekend is going to be split down the middle, with sunshine on Saturday and a sloppy mix of weather Sunday into Monday.
The rain/snow line has shifted in the last 18 hours and it's likely to shift again. As things stand, the heaviest snow will fall from Fredericton north and over western Newfoundland.
"I am concerned about the risk of freezing rain on Sunday," said Day. "Stay tuned."
