Weather

A mix of sun and cloud today with wind gusting to 50 kilometres an hour with a high of 9 C and a low of -1 C. The UV index is 5, or moderate.

SaltWire’s chief meteorologist Cindy Day said a large high-pressure system parked over James Bay is pulling some very cold air down across the Island.

The wind will be out of the north-west for a few more days and despite the sunshine, temperatures will remain below normal.

Normal highs and lows for the end of April are 11 C and 1 C.

The same cold high is going to deflect the wet weather to the south so this will be a good drying week.

Day said she doesn’t think the Island will see much rain until Friday night.
