Traffic

Road work will continue around Charlottetown today causing traffic delays and/or road closures in some areas.

Construction for the Water and Sewer Utility Infrastructure Renewal program will continue today with traffic impacts along Belvedere Avenue between Brackley Point Road and Mount Edward Road. Two-way traffic will be maintained, but drivers can minor traffic delays. Sidewalks on Belvedere Avenue will be closed as hydrant work takes place.

Belvedere Avenue has been reduced to one lane of stop-and-go traffic from Brackley Point Road to Maple Avenue. It is expected that this disruption in traffic flow will be in place for a few days. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes or expect delays. Carmichael Drive is closed to through traffic, but local traffic will be permitted.

Work will also take place on Parkview Drive, Elizabeth Street, High Street, MacKay Drive and Christie Drive, reducing these streets to one lane of alternating traffic. Traffic control personnel will be on-site, but drivers should seek alternate routes. Sidewalks in the area may also be impacted during this work. Local traffic will be permitted through.

Sidewalk work will take place on Queen Street between Paton Court and the east side of Atlantic Road.
Catch basin repair work is taking place at the corner of Brackley Point Road and Cedar Avenue. Minor delays may occur.


Weather

It will be mainly sunny today with a high of 6 C. Tonight’s low is expected to be 2 C, with rain beginning before morning.

ADVISORY: A weather warning is in effect for Prince Edward Island.

Rain, strong winds and a chance of wet snow expected this weekend as an intensifying low-pressure system will approach from the southwest.

The system will cross New Brunswick Saturday night before moving off towards Labrador on Sunday.

Rain will start over the Island early Saturday morning and taper off later that evening.

Wet snow is possible inland during the morning hours before temperatures warm up well above freezing, at which time rain is expected. Some areas may see 25 mm by Satrurday evening.

There will also be strong easterly winds gusting near 80 km/hr on Saturday, with rain followed by strong westerlies on Sunday behind the low.

Confederation Bridge Conditions

The Confederation Bridge is currently open to all traffic.

ADVISORY: A wind warning advisory is in effect for the Confederation Bridge.

Weather services today indicate wind conditions on Nov. 10 that may result in restrictions of traffic on the Confederation Bridge, between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
