P.E.I. man charged with four sex offences in Cape Breton

SYDNEY, N.S. —

 A 22-year-old man from Prince Edward Island charged with sex offences has been released on conditions.

Blake Douglas Frank Blanchard of Elm Street, Summerside, is charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference (relating to an individual under 16), and a single count of uttering a threat.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in April within the boundaries of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

Blanchard was released after posting $5,000 in property and agreeing to abide by a number of conditions including he have no contact with the victim, he live in Summerside, not possess firearms, he not be in the company of anyone under the age of 18, he report to police, by phone, once a week, he not possess any cell phone or electronic device with Internet access, he not attend places while children are likely to gather (parks, pools playgrounds), he only be in Cape Breton for legal appointments and adhere to a curfew.

Blanchard is now scheduled to enter pleas to the charges Sept. 18.
