Several months after a grocery gift card program ended, Cornwall-Meadowbank MLA Heath MacDonald is asking the government to bring it back.

MacDonald said he had to give the government credit for the program that gave out thousands of gift cards for grocery stores in the early days of the pandemic.

He then asked Finance Minister Darlene Compton about bringing it back.

“At the very least could your government reinstate that program for the next two months to help some of these families get through this tough time?”

Compton said she would bring the request to Economic Development Minister Matthew MacKay.
