Premier Dennis King acknowledged health issues have kept Health Minister James Aylward from the legislature for the last two days.
In a media scrum, King said Aylward has been dealing with “significant health issues.” He did not elaborate.
"It is a personal thing for him but he's been dealing with a significant health situation," King said.
King said he spoke to Aylward on Tuesday evening and said he planned to be back in the legislature by the end of the week.
Staff with the Premier’s Office declined to offer further details about the state of Aylward’s health.
"He's had a challenging couple of days," King said.
