CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Late Friday, the Green party announced the names of two nominees for the upcoming byelection in District 9 Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park.
Green party members will vote for either John Andrew, a retired medical physicist, or Susan Hartley, a clinical psychologist, as their candidate.
Voters in the district did not elect a political representative in last month’s election due to the sudden death of Green candidate Josh Underhay, who, along with his son, Oliver, drowned just days before the April 23 election.
Progressive Conservative candidate Sarah Stewart-Clark and Liberal candidate Karen Lavers will both be running in the district as well. A date for the byelection has yet to be determined but it must take place before July 19.
The Green nomination meeting will be held on Friday, May 24, at 7 p.m. at the Hillsborough Park Community Centre. Members can vote in person or online.
