Gas and furnace oil prices have decreased again with the regularly scheduled pricing adjustment announced today by Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

The commission says falling crude prices and an ample inventory of refined petroleum have led to the latest price reductions.

Those who heat their homes with oil got the biggest break, with stove and furnace oil dropping by 2.4 cents per litre overnight. The maximum price for furnace oil will now amount to 89.4 cpl, plus tax.

Gas, meanwhile, has dropped by one cent per litre, and sits at 104.2 to 105.3 cents per litre for regular, unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets.

Diesel prices have also decreased, by 1.4 cpl and range 126.6 to 127.8 cpl.

Propane prices decreased by one cent for Superior Propane, but there were no changes announced for Kenmac Energy or Irving Energy customers. Maximum, before-tax propane prices will now range from 80.3 cpl to 80.5 cpl.

The commission’s next scheduled price adjustment will be on Dec. 15.
