CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - A P.E.I. man who was in a single-vehicle accident while driving drunk was sentenced recently to seven days in jail.

Colby Jason Crawford, 20, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to failing the breath test.

The court heard that on Oct. 31 at around 3:20 a.m. the RCMP responded to a single-vehicle accident.

Crawford told the police his vehicle had hydroplaned.

He later provided breathalyzer samples that were above the legal limit.

Along with the jail time, Crawford will be on probation for 18 months and must perform 100 hours of community service or pay $10 per hour not performed to the Queens County Addiction Centre.

Crawford is banned from driving for one year.
