North Bedeque man caught with meth jailed

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A North Bedeque man was recently sentenced to 23 months in jail after he pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.

Christopher Nicholas Melvin Duguay, 29, pleaded guilty to the charges from a Sept. 26, 2019, incident in Summerside. 

Police seized:

  • more than 25 grams of methamphetamine in multiple packages,
  • 10 grams of cannabis in multiple packages,
  • 74 methamphetamine tablets,
  • a bag containing 1.91 grams crystal methamphetamine,
  • a scale,
  • packaging supplies,
  • score sheet,
  • cellphone,
  • knife and
  • $350.

In a separate incident on Feb. 21, 2020, Duguay and a co-accused from the same address in North Bedeque were charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking.

Police seized:

  • packaging supplies,
  • scales,
  • notebooks with scoresheets,
  • a small amount of hydromorphone,
  • four dime bags of methamphetamine pills,
  • seven dime bags of crystal methamphetamine,
  • a container filled with cannabis shake mixed with isopropyl alcohol,
  • cannabis shake,
  • cannabis resin and
  • materials for making cannabis oil.

Duguay was sentenced to 23 months to be served concurrently. The co-accused’s charges were stayed.  

Duguay must also provide a DNA sample for the national databank and is prohibited from possessing weapons for 10 years.
