A 28-year-old man who was caught on video stealing vodka from a liquor store was recently fined $400.

Joshua Andrew Bernard appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to the theft.

The court heard Bernard went to the store on March 29, put a $26.55 bottle of vodka in his pocket and left.

He turned himself in after the police posted the surveillance video on their website.

Bernard apologized to the court for his actions and said he didn’t have a problem with liquor.

“Just a stupid mistake,” he said.

Along with the fine Bernard must pay a $120 victim surcharge.

He told the court he would pay $26.55 in restitution right after leaving the courtroom.
