TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. — Two men who got lost in the woods near MacNeills Mill, P.E.I., on Tuesday, Jan. 12, have been found safe and sound.
Prince District RCMP reported Wednesday, Jan. 13, that the men, aged 36 and 63, called for assistance around 6 p.m. after several hours of trying to make their way out of the woods on their own.
The Tyne Valley Fire Department, Island EMS and RCMP all responded to the call for help. The men were located by firefighters several kilometers into the woods and were escorted back to the road where they were checked out by paramedics.
The RCMP is reminding Islanders who go into the woods to make sure someone else knows where they are and what time they will return. It is also recommended to dress warmly, take water, a charged cell phone and any other essential survival tools as a precaution.
