Maritime Electric warns of text scam

Maritime Electric has received increasing reports over the weekend of scams where customers receive text messages claiming to come from Maritime Electric. 
The power company wants customers to know that this is a scam. It does not communicate customer billing or account information via text message. 
The company advises anyone who receives these messages to delete them immediately and report it to Maritime Electric at 1-800-670-1012. The RCMP has been notified.
