O'LEARY, P.E.I. — Police say a male pedestrian under the age of 18 was seriously injured when struck by a motorcycle in O’Leary Thursday night.

RCMP Cpl. Nick Doyle says the youth was taken to the Prince County Hospital then transferred to hospital in Halifax.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 22-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, adds Doyle.

Doyle says police received the call at about 11:30 p.m. of a motorcyclist striking a pedestrian on Main Street.

“Speed could be a factor,’’ he says.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor.

Charges have not been laid at this point. The investigation into the collision continues.
