ALBERTON, P.E.I. – The driver of a delivery truck was taken to hospital to be checked over Tuesday morning after his vehicle veered off Church Street in Alberton, up onto a sidewalk and came to rest against a utility pole.

An investigating officer on the scene said police are considering the possibility a medical issue might have been a contributing cause to the low-speed collision. Cst. Phil Skiffington said the driver was alert and exhibited no physical injuries. The front bumper of the truck sustained a small dent.

The collision is still under investigation.

Police, ambulance and firefighters responded to the collision after a passing firefighter observed the incident unfold.
