CANOE COVE, P.E.I. - A community will come together this weekend to bring the meaning of Christmas to life.
The traditional live nativity scene will be presented for three nights in Canoe Cove with all proceeds going towards Santa’s Angels and the P.E.I. chapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation. The nativity scene will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 6452 Route 19 in Canoe Cove.
This is the eighth year of the event, which is held on a farm belonging to Chrys Jenkins.
“It brings the community closer together,” Jenkins when asked why he continues to host the annual nativity scene. “And, just the smiles on the kids’ faces when they go through. It’s unreal.”

A highlight of the living nativity for many is the inclusion of animals from Jenkins’ farm.
This year will be no different.
“The animals are going to be out,” said Jenkins, noting this year will see alpacas, goats, donkeys and cattle involved.
The living nativity also features a lots of Christmas lights throughout the farm while a large choir sings Christmas carols.
Jenkins thanked the community for helping put on the event. More than 80 volunteers from the community take part during the three nights.
Admission is by donation to go towards both Santa’s Angels, which Jenkins is involved in, and the foundation.
“Santa’s Angels is a really great organization, we donate anything we can, and (Children’s Wish) is a real good charity for children,” said Jenkins.
