Lennox Island man fined for fishing with improper nets

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 55-year-old Lennox Island man has pleaded guilty to one count of contravening Aboriginal Communal Fishing Licenses Regulations by having on board a vessel one or more gill nets with a mesh size less than 66.7 mm.

Mark James Bernard was fined $1,500 and must forfeit four gill nets that were seized by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

The charge is from Aug. 28, 2019 near Tignish.
