Kinkora man sentenced for fraud

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Kinkora man has pleaded guilty to one count of assault, one count of defrauding Consolidated Credit Union of money not exceeding $5,000 and one count of failing to attend court as required by a judge.

Luke Thomas Bernard, 30, was sentenced to serve three days in jail for the assault charge, but received credit for two days he had already spent in custody. He received suspended sentences for the other two charges.

Bernard must also serve 12 months of probation and repay $300 to Consolidated Credit Union.

The charges are from Nov. 1 and April 15 in Summerside and Sept. 5 in Kinkora.
